Sharon with its shaded village green and gracious homes maintains the ambience of a postcard perfect 18th century village. The town was incorporated in October of 1739 and has a current population of just 3,052 residents. The Green is surrounded with historic homes and is one of the largest in the entire state. It is the focal point of the town where people gather for special events including the Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Sing, The Annual Sharon Classic Road Race to benefit the town's day care programs, and the Annual August Craft Sale.
Sharon is home to many respected attractions and entities including the Sharon Audubon Center, the Tri-Arts Playhouse, The Sharon Historical Society, Sharon Hospital and The Hotchkiss Library of Sharron. Within its 59 square miles one will find wide and varied terrain from the Housatonic River Valley on the town's easter flank to the highlands in its center to rolling farms in the west. There are multiple conservation areas, forests and recreation space including the Appalachian Trail. Sharon is ideally located about 10 minutes from a Metro-North train station.
